Privacy Policy

If you’re reading this, you probably care about how your data is handled — and I respect that. This page explains what information wark3d.com collects, why it’s collected, and how it’s used. Nothing complicated, nothing hidden.

I’m Alex Mercer, the person behind this blog. I don’t run a corporation, a data brokerage, or anything of the sort. This is a personal site where I share insights about architectural visualization and 3D rendering. The privacy approach reflects that: minimal collection, clear purpose, no surprises.

Information the site collects

Most of what happens here doesn’t require you to share anything at all. You can read articles, browse project breakdowns, and explore the blog without handing over a single piece of personal data. A few interactions, however, do involve some information:

  • Contact form submissions. If you reach out through the contact page, I’ll receive whatever you choose to share — typically a name and email address, along with your message. This is used solely to reply to your inquiry. Nothing is added to a marketing list or passed along to anyone else.
  • Comments. If commenting is enabled on a post and you leave one, the site stores the name you enter, your comment, and your IP address. The IP is kept as a basic anti-spam measure, not to track you. Your email (if requested) is never displayed publicly.
  • Analytics. Like most websites, this one uses a lightweight analytics setup to understand which content people find useful. I see aggregated data — pages visited, approximate geography, referral sources — but nothing that identifies an individual personally. No fingerprints, no creepy cross-site tracking.

Cookies

The site may use a small number of functional cookies. These aren’t for advertising or profiling; they simply help things work properly — for example, remembering your comment form details if you choose to save them, or keeping a session alive while you browse. You can disable cookies in your browser at any time, though a few features might behave oddly if you do.

If any third-party embeds appear in articles (say, a YouTube video demonstrating a rendering technique), those services may set their own cookies according to their policies. I don’t control that, but I try to keep embeds to a minimum and only use them when they genuinely add value to the content.

How your information is used

In short: to make the site function and to respond to you if you reach out. I don’t sell, rent, or trade personal data. I don’t build shadow profiles. I don’t have a newsletter that quietly subscribes you to something you didn’t ask for. If I ever start a mailing list, it will be opt-in and clearly labeled as such.

Aggregated analytics data helps me understand what topics resonate — for example, whether readers are more interested in exterior rendering techniques or software comparisons. That shapes future content, but it’s never tied back to an individual.

Data retention

Contact form messages stay in my email archive indefinitely so I can reference past conversations if needed. If you’d prefer I delete a specific message thread, just ask. Comments remain on the site unless you request removal. Analytics data is retained in aggregate; individual session data expires after a reasonable period (typically 26 months or less, depending on the tool).

Third-party access

I don’t share personal data with third parties except in two narrow circumstances: (1) a trusted service provider that helps operate the site (like a hosting company or analytics platform), bound by their own privacy obligations, or (2) if required by law. That’s it. No ad networks, no data brokers, no convoluted partner agreements.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights around access, correction, or deletion of your personal data. Even if those rights aren’t formalized in your jurisdiction, I’ll treat your request with the same respect. Want to know if I hold any information about you? Want something deleted? Send me an email and I’ll handle it promptly.

External links

Articles sometimes link to other websites — software tools, reference sources, or relevant resources. I can’t control what happens when you leave wark3d.com, so I encourage you to check the privacy policies of any site you visit from here.

Changes to this policy

If anything material changes about how data is handled, I’ll update this page and note the revision date. For minor clarifications, I might not announce it separately — but the gist will always remain the same: your information is yours, and I treat it that way.
